My "racecar" is a 91 mustang coupe and it has a new Performance Automatic transmission with a trans brake and custom stall in it. The car has a full suspension, cage, fuel system, and everything else. I'm thinking about when I pull the engine to freshen it, to replace it with an LS1.. BUT, I want to maintain my current C4 transmission. Does anyone know if there is an "adapter" that will allow this?
Thanks

The only company I know that makes adapter bellhousings for the LS1 is McLeod. Give them a call and see if they have a Ford C4 trans setup yet...but be prepared for a "no" answer as this is a pretty unique requirement.

There's always the option of making one yourself. When you build an LS1, use the 6.0 truck crank (longer style, intended for the 4L80E). This will set the flexplate back a half inch or so, allowing you to easily build a sandwich adapter for the bellhousing. Then drill the flexplate to match your C4 converter bolt pattern.
