LS1 to TH350 question

LS1 to TH350 question This is my first post here, glad to be part of a great site!
I just started swapping an LS1 and TH350 into my 86 Silverado. I have the engine and trans at my shop and I am waiting on the parts I ordered to be shipped. The LS1 is out of an 01 Camaro that was originally equiped with a Tremec T-56.
I have already purchased the flexplate, bolts as well as the in line fuel pump, regulator. I went with Schoenfeld headers for the exhaust and Dirty Dingo for the engine mounts.
My question is on the engine/tranny combo. Will the ECU(being from a manual shift car) need to be programmed because of a different tranny? I would think that a manual shift ECU would not control or monitor any type of transmission data. Any information will be a big help!

The pcm does get one reading from the tranny. That's a VSS signal so it know when the vehicle is moving and how fast it's going. Because of that, you're going to need a VSS so the pcm knows when the truck is moving. Without it you will have issues with the engine trying to stall out occasionally when you're coming to a stop. There are a few different vendors that sell an aftermarket VSS that goes inline with the speedo cable.
As LS1 pointed out, you should probably hook up the VSS. One way to do this is use a 4L60E reluctor wheel and tailshaft housing. There are companies out there that sell them. We used that exact setup on our shop Nova. Another option may be to use a signal generator that threads onto your stock mechanical output from the TH350. It has 2 wires which will generate a pulse signal to feed the PCM.

I believe it will as long as the PPM is correct in the tune. I haven't tried it.
