Default Oil system priming help please

Im ready to start my LQ9 soon, but wanted to make sure I had oil pressure before starting it. I pulled the oil pressure sensor out and turned it over to make sure oil was making it up there, but no joy.

My set up is a Moroso pan and I modded the pickup tube for it and made sure it didn't leak. I am running a remote filter set up with 5/8 tubing going to it. I pulled both tubes off to see if oil was making it that far and it wasn't. I pulled the spark plugs out to get some more RPM out of the starter and still did not have oil.

What methods are y'all using to prime your motors? Am I missing something concerning the way I am doing it? Ive read on the forum people were turning it over 4 times and getting oil pressure indication.

Thanks

I packed my pump with some assembly grease that dissolves once heated (to give it something to work with), pulled my spark plugs - fuel pump fuse couldn't hurt as well -and then turned it over in bursts until I got pressure.

Pull the fuse for the fuel pump, coils, injectors and plugs... and crank as Chuckd said..until you get some pressure.

Removing the spark plugs helps the engine build oil pressure more quickly.

Also fill the oil filter before cranking. In your case you could even elevate the remote filters when filling so oil works its way back into the motor.

I didn't have to do any of the suggestions above (other than to remove the fuses while cranking), in order to achieve pressure the first time.
I'm wondering why people have different results?

Buy a cheap accumulator on eBay and pump the oil in.

I pump 2 quarts in mine. Never have to crank the engine dry. Do this if the engine or oiling system is appart.

Default Interesting/cheap Engine Pre lube

Came across this article when I was researching the same question. A little bit of work, but if you are building and rebuilding engines it may be worth it!
