Im ready to start my LQ9 soon, but wanted to make sure I had oil pressure before starting it. I pulled the oil pressure sensor out and turned it over to make sure oil was making it up there, but no joy.
My set up is a Moroso pan and I modded the pickup tube for it and made sure it didn't leak. I am running a remote filter set up with 5/8 tubing going to it. I pulled both tubes off to see if oil was making it that far and it wasn't. I pulled the spark plugs out to get some more RPM out of the starter and still did not have oil.
What methods are y'all using to prime your motors? Am I missing something concerning the way I am doing it? Ive read on the forum people were turning it over 4 times and getting oil pressure indication.
Thanks

Removing the spark plugs helps the engine build oil pressure more quickly.
Also fill the oil filter before cranking. In your case you could even elevate the remote filters when filling so oil works its way back into the motor.

Came across this article when I was researching the same question. A little bit of work, but if you are building and rebuilding engines it may be worth it!
