If I were you, I might check the engine swap section on thirdgen.org. There is a wealth of knowledge specific to LSx swaps for third gens.

What size did that hole need to be above the frame rail for the ecu plugs? I cant find that write up on that. Did you use some cut vacume line for a grommet?
found the thread but i dont see what size the hole needs to be... i herd 2" in there but no one was certain.

The trick is getting the connectors through the hole.
There was an existing 1 7/8" diam hole in the firewall. I elongated the bottom, then squared the bottom into a cathedral, so that from side to side is 1 7/8, and top to bottom is 2 1/2".
My harness was reworked by a sponsor. In bending the harness carefully to make it pass through, I managed to break one wire going to the crank sensor. Maybe the wire was broken to begin with.

Whatever the standard harness length is, there was enough to either mount as seen here, or under the dash in a 1st Gen Camaro.
Some drill a hole lower, where the bottom of the heater box would be, to keep the harness out of sight. Since the hole was already there, I decided that invisible was not an issue.
Everything will be dressed up later. Probably two pieces of sheet metal (upper & lower) over the hole.

The best way to prevent breaking a wire in the bends is to think about where the bends will go before building the harness and move splices to the strait parts
