Default Porsche 944-LS1 conversion VSS question

I have a Porsche 944 that I am puting an LS1 out of a 2000 Corvete into. My wiring harness is from a 98 Camaro SS, that has been stripped down to a stand alone harness. My question that I have not been able to get a definite yes or no answer to is this. Do I need to keep the VSS wiring? The Porsche is a non ABS car, I am using the Porsche torque tube and transmission. The speedometer is the old style VW cable drive from the front hub. I can put a reluctor on the rear CV shaft to run the VSS if it is necessary. I am going to use the 98 Camaro PCM. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I yook the VSS out of my Harness in my Chevelle. Seems to run just fine. I have read on the forums that you may have a stalling issue coming to a stop without VSS. I changed my idle RPM to 800 across the board and have no problem.

Yes, use it. The car will run without it but it will work better with it. It makes the motor run more smooth at a stop and driving off from a stop, especially with a manual car. I just got my 944/LS conversion on the road. Good luck with your build.

I'm one of the guys who had stalling problems without VSS. Added it, all is now well.
If your cable speedo is similar to GM, Dakota Digital makes a pass thru vss that will work. If not, keep the vss wiring and add the vss and reluctor later if needed.
