Vintage Air? (Compressor)
Vintage Air? (Compressor) Installing a vintage air system on a 58 apache with an 20004 5.3 and I am running the factory ac compressor in the stock location.
But yet Vintage Air says I need a constant pressure compressor my 2004 ac compressor will not work....
Anyone had this problem?

If you do a search here on compressors you'll find others have used the stock compressors with mixed results. The operating pressures differ between the VA sanden and stock compressors so efficiency is decreased.

I realize this is an older thread but is this info correct? If so, how would you determine a variable displacement compressor from a "regular" one?
It appears that I may have posted too soon. After doing some more reasearch, it appears that the pre-2003 Denso compressors that came stock on trucks are fixed displacement and work just fine with Vintage Air systems.
