PN for the 02-04 LS6 cam is 12565308. Don't go to the local dealer.

ScogginDickey carries it and they are a supporting vendor. It's $265.

Summit among others carry it as well.

Update. I got the front cap off in between big jobs at work. Started shopping for a motor. I think im going to buy a new block from summit racing for 700 bucks and go 408ci.

Then sunday i bent over to pick up some trash in the bathroom and messed my back up again. Missing two days of work where i work reeeeaaalllyy sets you back.

And sitting at the computer is a bitch with exploded discs and this forum is not mobile friendly. So these pics will get uploaded later.

I will never have time to modify my harness so that fella a current performace is gona build me one for 850 bucks.

The robinair guy came and set up our new ac machine and turns out he builds s10s with lsx motors. Told me to use h3 alpha oilpan and i dont have to cut anything. And he showed me a vid of his transam standing up with a 408. Search black hole racing bubba n. On youtube.

old school 350:

Pros: all accessories will bolt up and can keep the a/c. More power than a 4.8
Cons: worse fuel milage

4.8:

Pros: with the right swap parts easy bolt in. Better fuel milage. wiring is actually pretty easy once you figure it out. (keep the factory fuse block in the s10 and hook the 4.8 harness there, DO NOT RUN A STAND ALONE HARNESS ON THIS TRUCK, wire them together.) If you do that the gauges will work. Will pass state inspection.

Cons: you have to get the correct swap parts or it will be a PITA. More expenisive parts needed than the old school. More work required to get it running when fuel injected.

Both are great swaps I have personally done both. If you plan on selling it and making a profit, good luck. the old school will only require motor mounts, headers and electric fans. The 4.8 will require a H3 oil pan, motor mounts, headers, a/c relocation bracket or cut the frame, extensive wiring and electric fans. The V6 4L60 is weaker than the V8 trans, it has less clutches than the V8 transmission. It will work but you are warned.
