A blown, carbed ls1 first gen?
A blown, carbed ls1 first gen? Guys,
Just and idea, what if you were to take a ls1, put the carb manifold on it, then throw a blow-through blower on it, like that vortech sbc kit? Wouldnt you be able to save a few thousand bucks on wiring harnesses, blowers, etc?
What would be the pros and cons of going to a setup like this? Any big drawbacks?

Exactly... I don't think the Carb manifold is CHEAP... I have not seen it advertised anywhere, but as far as I know it is only sold as a package with a programmable ignition controller that interfaces with the stock LS1 sensors and coils. I am GUESSING... and I would say I'm not likely too far off the mark... but it will probably run right around $700 for the package.
If you modify a stock wiring harness yourself you are saving money right off the bat, plus you are not losing all of the benefits of an LS1 swap in the first place.
If you are gonna go with a carbed motor, why not just use a SBC?? All the parts are INFINITELY less expensive.
