Gauge swap questions As I understand it, you can swap gauges from an LS car to a non-LS car. I am swapping a '01 LQ4 into a '79 C10.
I know that I could get the gauges from my donor vehicle to work. However, they look like
so I don't want to use them. Would it cause a whole bunch of problems if I wanted to swap in gauges from a car? The corvette and camaro guages are good looking and I would use them if I could.
The 4L80E I have seems to be finicky in a lot of respects. Would it cause problems when going over to the car gauges? If it would cause problems, would I be able to go to the newer truck gauges. I saw the gauges in a '08-ish truck and they looked really nice. Would they work with my LQ4/4L80E? Is there any limit to what will and will not work with my drivetrain combo?
My research tells me that I would need the body control module to control the gauges. My research also tells me that I haven't seen anyone trying to swap over truck gauges and I have seen very few people swapping car gauges. Is it going to be more time and money to use a factory cluster versus all new aftermarket gauges?
