Default squeaking belt

Hi

I recently fitted an LS3 into a 67 Camaro and used a Kwik alternator/ps bracket. I have this annoying belt squeak which is doing my head in. I tried both the factory tensioner and the comp cam adjustable type but I cant seem to fix the problem. Any suggestions are welcome. I was told by someone that the bottom idler pulley on the Kwik bracket needs to be raised by 10 - 15mm which will provide more of the belt to cover the power steering pulley. I thought I would pose question before making this change.

I have the same problem with my kwik brackets. I heard you can use a Goodyear gatorback belt and it will stop the squeaking.

Put a body panel shim under the idler bracket and/ or pulley to angle to top of the pulley more toward the rear of car. Do a search for kwik, this comes up from time to time. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...et-issues.html

I tried ALL the Kwik "fixes".....None worked. Found the p/s pulley was 3/32" too far out on the shaft. Pressed it flush... No more squeek.

I have the Kwik AC brackets. I too had an annoying squeak. It was coming from my idler pulley. The one that came with the Kwik brackets. The way it was made, the surface of the pulley was very un-even. My theory is that these low areas were what made it squeak. I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of the squeak. New belts, belt dressing. I finally bought another pulley and it stopped.

I don't know if this is what your problem is. Hopefully it helps.

thanks for the replies and suggestions. Today I fitted a new Bosch belt after thoroughly cleaning the pulleys with "grease and wax" remover. It appears the squeak has now gone and hopefully it will last.
