Default Reverse lock-out not locking me OUT, When I need it to...

I swapped an LQ9 into a 70' Chevelle with a T56 Magnum. I converted the wiring harness to run a cable throttle body, with a PCM tuned around an 04' GTO with a 6 speed. At a complete stop, shifter goes into reverse effortlessly (not locked out). Problem is, at ANY forward speed, the solenoid allows me to glide on over to the reverse branch when it should be blocking me. I can even hear and feel (with my hand) the solenoid clicking at a fairly fast pace but never seems to lock out unless power is taken from it. My shifter boot is off and I've taken a stethoscope to the solenoid and it is clicking like crazy at any speed...Wondering where to start? PCM not getting accurate signal from speed sensor? PCM seems unsure when to ground the solenoid? Really don't want to mistake reverse for 5th!!!! Thanks!!!

I have my lockout wired only to my brake pedal and I have the same issue. Hope this helps in your troubleshooting that it's likely not a PCM issue.

I'm getting ready to wire up my t56 magnum now. Curious to see what you find.

If the solenoid has a white connector, remove it and get a reverse lockout solenoid.

If it's black, unclip the wiring. If the problem resolves, fix the wiring issue.

Connect it to HP Tuners and see if you can enable the lockout with the scanner.

Thanks for the responses! I will look into HP Tuners. The PCM was tuned around a 04' GTO With a six speed. The PCM is supposed to ground out the solenoid (allowing you to go to reverse) at a super low speed like 3mph. The solenoid is working... I'm about to unplug it and just muscle it over. It "is" a muscle car. I'm wondering if that would be bad for the shifter shaft and related components. Solenoid is there for a reason...

It's actually not as hard as a lot of people on here act like it is.

I did it for over a year in my 84. I didn't think it was any harder than some of the old Mr. Gasket 4 speed shifters from the 70's.

Yeah. It's really not difficult to overcome the solenoid. Especially because my shifter is close to 12'' long....
