That's a good way to do it.. I fill the cooling system up in a similar manner.

Been busy moving out of my place this week. Going to jack the truck up and bleed it that way. Getting a low mile water pump as well for to try that out. I think it's the radiator or pump. The ls1 radiator was used. When I pull the pump I'll take the radiator and have it tested. The faster I go the higher it over heats. It doesn't want to cool down after that at idle.

Yes it was 50/50 mix. I doubled checked my used coolant containers. Thanks for all the help guys.

Finally back from my trip. Ordered a new aluminum 2 core radiator for the truck while I was gone. Installed it a few days ago and have been driving it since. It stays @180 now while at highways speeds where before thats when it would over heat. Its fixed! the LS1 radiator was either bad or just didnt have enough cooling capacity for my heavier truck. Sorry for the long wait on the fix.

I had the same problem in my ls1 240 turned out the radiator was junk. Mine was getting 210-220 after hour of driving. I swapped waterpumps tstat. I put the front end 3 feet up and it would still bubble out coolant. I finally learned the radiator was bubbling fluid and not flowing
