What stall converter

I am looking for recomendations for a stall. I have a LQ9 with a TSP 233/239 .603/.600 112 LSA cam, 4l65E auto tranny, & 2.73 gears (to be changed in the distant future). I am looking for streetability. I will not be going to the track, just cruises and some daily driving.
Let me know what you are running & if you like it.
Thanks

With that size cam, 3200 vig or equivalent, at minimum.

I would stay in the low to mid/high 3k range if you going to be daily driving it (as you stated, not track time), but would recommend the gear change soon. A too high of a stall in going to start killing your MPG on curises.

Just my 2 cents..

Thanks for the input. I would like to change the gears this coming winter. I think it is a 8.5" 12 bolt. I would like to get a whole new rear end, but I don't have the funds. I heard that I might be able to just change the ring and pinion (if the bearings & all are still good).

"I think it is a 8.5" 12 bolt. I would like to get a whole new rear end"

That might be a "corporate" 8.5" rear end. If so they can be plenty strong so I would not change it. I would drop and Eaton posi in it and the gears of your choice.

By the way I just bought one for my 1965 Buick Skylark. I chose the Eaton posi, 30 spline axles and 3.23 gears because of the 6L80E transmission I will be running. Probably will be going with a 3200 stall with my L92 motor.

sorry just wishing, I think it is a 10 bolt.

8.5" would normally be a 10 bolt. but if you research, many have gone into the 8's with a built 10. They are almost as strong as a 12 bolt.

I am about to replace my Nova's 8.2" with an built 8.5", just going to drop in a 30 spine posi, HD Axle and a good set of gear.. it should hold up for want I plan (a few days at the drag and some Auto-X).

You should be ok with the 8.5" for what you have stated your goal is.

Yes, the 8.5" is a ten bolt but a strong one. If that is what you have it will serve you well with some upgrades.

If he gets a lock-up stall, the size won't matter while cruising ;). It will depend on his right foot :burn:....
