Default Confused on drive by wire

My harness I got with my engine has blue and red PCM connectors.the engine has an egr valve and I was told it was a 2000 5.3 but when going through the harness it appears to be dbw,what gives.i did think you could get it till 03. But no egr in 03 right?

Some 2002 5.3L's had DBW these are high end SUV's mostly. Really need the 2002 tac and pedal for it as its kinda of a bastard setup. What trans are you going to run? I have heard of problems running a 4l80 with that DBW setup and year.

You will also need the '02 and older throttle body, the one with 2 plugs on it, one on each side. And the TAC module will be the all plastic one, not the plastic with aluminum base.

Just finished cleaning up the harness,it does indeed have the dbw with the all plastic controller.i will be using a th350 trans with this,then switching to a 5 speed manual down the road.i have removed all trans controls from harness,so no going back now.do you think this will be a problem? How hard are those tb to find? What years were they available,what models?where can I get the pedal?

Pretty much for 2002 IIR was the only year. You could make it work but be a pain.

Since its not complete I would just find the later DBW these are very common and cheap think millions made. Be way more easier to just go with the 2003-05 DBW setup.

So keep the harness I have and use the later dbw throttle body and tac? Or **** can everything and start over? Damn that would suck,I think I could find a throttle body.i have the tac can't I just get a pedal and wire it up? I still need a PCM my engine didn't come with one

I would just start over if you can't find a TB.

And I would price a used 2003-up DBW harness, TAC, pedal, and PCM. Although you could use the harness you have now just have to change somethings but be easier IMO just to get another harness.

Remember that the 2 Connector Throttle Boy on the earlier truck engines looks identical to the early car throttle bodies (corvette, ctsv) but the motor is flipped. Make sure you get one for a truck.

FYI, you can use the harness you have and switch it to a green/blue PCM (242) by changing the red retainers to green, updating TAC pinout, adding some extra grounds and changing to PWM O2 heaters.

I've got the same setup off an 02 escalade LQ9. The TB was on some trucks from 00-02, so they're not that rare. TB, TAC, and pedal are still available, but TB is almost $400, pedals are around $100.
You can check Rock Auto for a pic of the TB and interchange.
Go with a 411 ecu, it works well with auto or manual trans.

thanks for the info,everybody.whats the best setup to run with a cam swap and headers?ill also have a pretty loose converter in the 3000 stall range and 3:73 gears.the cam im leaning towards is the texas speed 228.is it better to use the cable set up or dbw.sorry for all the questions i just want to do it once.
