all I could read is: 0296Q9332320
block marked 6.0, head marked 317
said to be from a 2001 2500 pickup
Is it desirable?

Based on the partial VIN it's an 2002 motor. Was there a date code cast in the front of the block by the water pump?
Its an LQ4 most likely given the DBC. And it's nothing special, but it is a 6.0L.

Where do I look for the date code and what does it look like?
Passenger side there was a single numeral and one letter, stamped in.
Was that it?
