cruise control slack
Hey everyone. I did a LS swap witht he Painless 60608 harness. Really nice to have my 1983 MonteCarlo SS up and running witht he LS1 4L65E combo as well but I still have an issue. I'm running a cruise module from a 2000 Camaro with the short cable that ainless called for in the application. It isn't working and I just noticed a ton of slack in the cable at the throttle body. Adhjusting the the little barrel nut doesn't help either. Is there supposed to be nearly a 1/2 inch of slack? and if it is to have no slack, what are your suggestions for shortening the cable? Thanks a ton for your time and knowledge!
What I intend to do is cut the cable to proper length on the side of the cable that enters the cruise module. (since that part will be hidden from view)
I ordered a 1/16" aluminum button stop. These are intended to be swagged ~ or crushed ~ onto the new part of the cable at the proper length. I'll have to take exact measurement to eliminate all the slop but in the end, feel this is the best direction to go. Utilyzing the truck cable also eliminated a bunch of extra cable lying around the engine bay but I have to fabricate a proper mount for the end of the cable to mount properly at the throttle body. It will end up becoming a hybrid mount but will look very stock as though GM intended it that way when I am finished. stay tuned....
