LS3 Swap 59 Impala - VSS problems First off I would like to thank everyone in advance for their help in this matter
We just got done with this LS3 swap in this 59
Engine is a crate engine from GM and the harness is GMPP brought to us by the customer.
We decided to put a TH350 up to the engine and everything went together well, however it has a strange idle, and will fall on its face when you plant the throttle, and again when you brake. After searching and reading up on others problems it seems the VSS may be a problem. IT IS NOT HOOKED UP TO ANYTHING...
On the transmission we have the digital sender from Dakota Digital for our VHX Gauges, my questions are, Will the computer like an input from this sender and, How would I tie my VSS hook up into it?
Trying to get this issue resolved in the next few days!

I had the no VSS issues with manual trans.
Dakota digital makes a pass through VSS to hook up to a mechanical speedo output, it solved the problems. It did not need to have the ecu tuned to the correct speed in my case.
If your DD sender for the gauges is a 2 wire hall effect sender, it puts out the correct signal for the ecu. Although I'm not sure if you could split it to the ecu and gauge. If that wont work, you can piggyback the 2 senders together.

doesnt matter unless the one wire is grounded to a cable shield or the vss housing. You can check that with an ohm meter. The DD pass thru vss was not.
If you're splitting to the speedo and ecu, if the speedo has one wire grounded, be sure to use that wire as the ground to the ecu (check the pinout for your ecu).

Can I use the SGI-5 from dakota digital to send the signal to the computer?, he(dakota digital) said the module that goes into the side of the trans for the VHX gauges puts out 16K PPM, but I told him the computer needs 4K PPM, he said that it will work, I just want some input from others first as well

as far as I know, the auto and manual trans put out 17 to 40 pulses per rev, which is about 10 fold over that number.
The DD pass thru sender puts out a very low count which wont run a DBW cruise control issue, but will fix stalling issues with the manual trans.
