Default Connector ID

I've got a four pin connector @ the transmission that I can't ID.It's a 2004 GTO 4l60e and the connector is right beside the shifter connector. Could it be for the backup/neutral safety switch? If it is would it be needed for startup or is the cars NS switch all thet keeps the car from starting? it just locks out the starter?
Couldn't find any wiring for the auto in the stickies, and searching didn't turn up anything Any help here? Thanks, Hal
