IMO the best around right now is 'Race Car Replicas' specifically the SLC. Not cheap at $40K plus but basically a Group 'C' racecar for the street.

They also have a number of other bodies for the same chassis, GT40, Lola t-70 coupe. They're also working on something called the GTA which will be a slick kit aimed toward the import folks.

I have a Factory Five GTM. For $20K you get a kit then you buy a wrecked C5 Corvette and strip the needed parts. You'll also need a Porsche G50 transmission.

FFR - one of the best companies out there for kit cars.

I want to do a GTM or GTMII eventually.

I'd love a GT40 with twin turbo LS1 power.

From what I have heard from a lot of GTM owners is that it takes a LOT of body work and time to get the GTM right. One guy I met with one had $20k in just body work and paint. So you figure $21k for the kit $1.2k for A/c and $700 for the adapter, you are at $23k with no wheels or anything. Not talking against it. I even plan on building on myself one day, but got an SLC right now to work on, and I'm overseas so that's not happening for a few more months.

I'm looking at the new 818 from FFR, 10k for the kit and 5k to finish it. Weighs 1800lbs.

This was a bigger issue with the first gen kits. The body molds have been completely redesigned to address a lot of the finishing issues; which was the primary complaints from the Gen I kits.
