Default LT1 T56 to a LS1 engine

Someone ran a light and hit my son in my LT1/T56 Camaro. I can purchase the car from the insurance company for salvage, and I know some have been able to mate the LT1/T56 to LS style engines. I have a ls6 engine and would like to use the LT1 tranny behind it. Can any one point me in the right direction.

there is a manual trans section of this forum a few down from this section if you want to get into the details, but the basics are ls bellhousing, front plate, and input shaft.

99% correct, except for if its a 93 t-56 then you cant swap it to the LS input you have to have it shipped to TDP and have them lengthen it to LS spec becasue the gears are different otherwise its the same thing.
