New use for truck mounts 
Cut the strip of steel off the rubber, then remove the rubber. Presto you have a free start to custom mounts. Reading Denmah's threads got me all creative.

I like the ideal but what do you use for a vibration isolator? The cleanest easiest thing I have found to do for mounts so far is to use mid 80` SBC frame side mounts (I always seem to be swapping on GM`s anyway) and then weld together an upper out of 1/4" plate.
I guess you could use the C5 Corvette type biscuit isolator - if you have the height.
Maybe I'm getting old (or wiser) but I don't like solid engine and transmission mounts anymore. Poly on the other hand is good stuff.

I'm a cheap *** DIY'er, so anything that I can use I do. I figure if you need a solid mount start these will definitly help, or use the hole in the center to use buiscuits or even hockey pucks.
I understand DIY, that's almost all I do.
Ages ago I saw how to make your own engine mounts. I'm not talking about the metal part, I mean the isolator. The article discussed making a mold and mixing your own polyurethane or something. The guy made a pair of mounts for some oddball car that was no longer in production.
