cooling fan
my computer is a 1999 and has no electric fan function. I am going to mount a stand alone fan controller.
Were should I intall the coolant temp sensor. I chose to go with a screw in type sensor. Is it safe to drill and tap the top of the water pump?

Nothing wrong with installing in the top of the water pump. I installed a mechanical temp gauge there and it works perfectly.
Remove the pump before you drill and tap so you can clean it out well after your done.

Me too. Wasn't my first choice but hard to find a metric temp sensor. I did have to set the probe in place with a little JB weld putty. It came loose once and took me awhile to figure out what was going on. The putty keeps the wind off the probe too.
Here is another option
Mounts in radiator drain, and is adjustable for temp.

I drilled the water plug in the block on the drivers side rear above the oil filter location. drilled and tapped the plug for the 1/2 npt adapter that came with the autometer guage. Seems to work really good and keeps the front of the engine just a little cleaner
