ls1 s10 Okay so im currently in the middle of my s10 build and im stuck right now as it sits ive got a ls1 engine bone stock but no tranny or anything like that ive got a 10 bolt chevy rear end i can pull out of a 74 elcamino as well which i plan on doing when i get the time but i need advice on what you guys would recomend on tranny setup and rear end set up for the ls1 i plan on atleast making around 450+ rwhp and need some advice on what you would recomend on engine setup after i get some work in the engine i plan on supercharging or twin turboing it (most likely supercharger)
any advice would be helpful!

ive been looking into a ls1 running T56 transmission with 4.10 gears with the 10 bolt outta the 74elcamino im not sure how the rear end will hold up tho ive heard some people say i would be better off just buying a 12 bolt posi rear end
Any 12 bolt, or other chevy car rear end is going to be too wide.
A ford 8.8 out of an explorer is stronger than any old gm 10 bolt and even the 12 bolt.
I had one in my 1st gen S10, had the bolt pattern drilled to use mid 90's camaro wheels ( the ones that look like ZQ8 wheels) and they didn't stick out of the wheel well.
The stock S10 rear is 55" wide, the explorer rear is 58-59" wide and the passenger side is 3" longer than the drivers side. You could narrow only the passenger side housing 3" and use a stock 30 spline axle from the drivers side and end up with a much stronger rear thats 0-1" wider than stock.
Thats the direction I would go.

F-body. The GTO's shifter is located a little further back so you would have to switch the shifter over to an f-body style for it to be in a normal location. Some cars come with different geared t56's like my M12 out of a GTO, has slightly different gears and different syncros.
