Default Degree tilt on ls1

I'm doing a 5.3 swap onto an s10. I am trying to use the stock truck oil pan. I made my own motor mounts to do this. I have about a 1/4" between the engine crossmember and oil pan. Now I am trying to measure out for the trans crossmember. My problem is the trans has to go way high to get the motor level. I would have to raise the entire tunnel for drive shaft to clear. To give the trans clearance the motor set about 12 degrees leaning back.
Is this to much?

Additional info.
Truck is perfectly level on stands.
Trans pan is dead nut level. Balancer is around 3 degrees.
I measure 12 degrees With intake off on the valley cover.
Truck is fuel injected rear sump pan and running th350 trans

So can you have too much tilt on the motor?
Or please tell its good if not I have a lot of cutting to do

I would double check your angle. -3° on the balancer sounds right but -12° on the intake valley doesn't. I measured mine at the crank (-2°) and measured the pinion angle(+2°) so I left it at that.

You're measuring something wrong. If the trans pan is level and you have 3° on the balancer, you cannot have 12° on the valley cover. Think about it, those two "planes" are perpendicular so the angles will be complimentary. 3° should be your tilt, and that is A-OK.

We had to notch out the xmember under the motor on my brothers s10. By the sound of it your trying to put your motor to far back. He also used td mounts

Thanks guys for the feedback. My dang angle finder is junk. Check it on a level surface and its way off. Anyway checked with a new one. Motor valley is 3.1 and matches the crank balancer at 3.1. So I am good to go. No cutting. Thanks again
