Default ls swap in a mustang

Planning on doing a 5.3 or 6.0 swap. I want to stay on a budget but that only goes so far. I can get a 5.3 from local salvage yards all day for 450 under 100k guaranteed good. I see debates on spraying nitrous on h/c motors.

I plan on arp rod and mains along with headstuds or headbolts because headbolts are alot cheaper and a 150 shot I feel should be plenty safe. I am looking at 243 heads or 799's which I think come on the truck 5.3's already and having them ported and running the ls9 headgaskets. Upgrading to ls7 springs or aftermarket and running a victor jr carb intake with a plate nitrous kit for the time being as I want to boost it in the future.

Thinkin of a TH350 trans.

Any thoughts. Headers I feel are the bigest purchase I will have to make.

you need to recondition the rods if you install ARP rod bolts.they has been many threads about new rod bolts on ls cracked rods.most people use Kaltech rod bolts.you need to align hone a block if using main studs.get springs that the new cam requires.check out Texas Speed for parts.check the boosted section for NOS ideas.

It's designed pretty well IMO..you have one section where all the Conversions are..make a post there and ask. There is a wealth of knowledge in there and looking thru everyone's builds might give you ideas that you didn't think about..

I thought about it. Usually form past experiences from corral if you asked something that had already been covered in the forum that may have been 10 years ago they flipped **** and would say. look it up

I'm on corral and modded, you have to remember most mustang owners are still in high school and it makes them look cool. This is a better site and the conversion section is awesome! I'm doing a ls1 swap in my car also

I installed an LS1 from a 1999 trans am into my 1991 mustang GT last September. The engine is stock except for a speed density tune and some home made ram air and a 150 shot of nitrous. I am using a turbo 350 trans with a 3500 stall converter. My car has 4.30 gears and weighs 2860 with me in it. I did the install without buying any after market parts. I did have a new drive shaft made at a cost of $200. I have less than $2500 in the swap so far and the car has went 7.51 on motor a 6.78 on spray in the 1/8 mile with no problems at all. It doesn't even have headers just factory manifolds and short 2 1/2 inch pipes.
