If you are going to go NA get a 6.0.I have a 5.3 in a 1992 chevy pickup with a cam and headers but i wish i had the torque of a 6.0.You will have to do alot to get 400 hp out of a 5.3.A big cam which will kill your lowend torque and you will have to put some heads on it or get yours worked.

4.8's cammed up can go but if your running a 4L60 you cant buzz them high without grenading the trans plus trucks are heavy and the more cam you add the more bottom end suffers so boost it, or get some cubes

hey guys thanks for all the posts, I was told by my friend that knows the guy that had it that it was a 5.3 so i figured that we could trust him, but i guess he lied to my friend. oh well... I intend on keeping it, and turbos are an option down the road but for now im just guna stay NA I have a guy thats really good with tuning (tuned lots of high hp cars) so the tune isnt an issue, and I am going to rework the harness myself, anyways the 4.8/5.3 are 100% identical on the outside. and just fyi, the front clip was removed thats why i didnt check the emissions tag..
