It's 2.5x.125 with 2.25x.125 slugs inside all the joints/straights so its internally gusseted. A lot of drag cars use .125 for the full rails so it should be strong enough.

I bought the tube and had a place bend them in 90s and cut them up. The covers just look better than the stock ones. I was going to fill them and make the smooth, but decide to just make a set that fits better. And I believe they were LS2 covers.

Pretty nice job so far. I was looking at the headers and thought mabe you were taking a pic with out the steering shaft in it, then I saw the pass side and thought what the heck, then the next pic the wheel was on the rhs. Reminds me of corvette summer when they built their car like that. What color you going on it?

It looks like it accumulated a lot of surface rust when you took it outside. Will you be cleaning it up?

Yes the whole thing will be blasted before its ready for paint. It decided to rain on the way to the show it went to. Was a disaster to be honest.

And the paint will be chocolate brown.

Thanks, just a normal size bed.

Here's a few more pictures with the doors and front end on. Stock hood fits with the body drop. Tube core support with a griffin radiator thats recessed in. The sheetmetal cover uses extra grille clip fastners that snap in like a factory grille does. It hides all the headlight mounting and wiring. Inside of the fender is sheetmetal'd to fit around the tire, which kisses the hood when its layed out without weight on the tire. Also the bumper is just sitting there, not mounted.

Lots of work, looks good. The rhd seems like it would make passing, u-turns and left hand turns needlessly hard from a visibility perspective though. Anyway, I wish I could build things the way you can.
