Stall for stock 5.3
I am thinking about getting a different torque converter for my car as it seems the stock one in my 4L80E is very tight. I'd like a little advice on what is a good stall speed for stock 5.3L in a 1987 Monte Carlo with 3.73:1 gears? What kind of gains could be made with a higher stall when talking street/strip performance?? Looking for good street manners as car is mostly street driven.
Thanks
I talked to Yank and Transmission Specialties and both recommend ~3200 stall, 9.5" or 10" converter. Both have very good customer service but shipping a Yank across the country would add a large sum of money so I might just go to Trans Specialties and pick one up to save some money.
