AutoMeter Speedo and Tach Solution!
Solved my Tach and Speedo issue so I thought I would share for future searches.
First the Pro-Comp Ultra Lite Tach.
There are multiple instructions out there for the correct orientation of the DIP switches on 3-3/8" and 5" Tachs. It varies! Don't give up.
The LS1 ECM puts out a 2 pulse signal (we all know this). This means you need to set the gauge to 4 cylinder/2 pulse mode.
The problem is, what is the correct setting? If you look at the various instructions on AutoMeter's site you will see that #1 and #2 should be down, others will tell you #1 down and #2 up, AND finally #1 up and #2 down. All of these are 2 pulse 4 cylinder mode. Its definitely gauge dependent. After endless playing with the DIP settings on mine, #1 up and #2 down worked for me. No resisters, no special kits etc.
The Speedometer....These things really are able to be calibrated. My needle didn't move when I first started the car and figured it didn't work. Well after going through the procedures, the gauge was counting pulses after all! So I calibrated per AutoMeter and works great!
