55 chevy swap

Possibly looking to do a ls swap into a 55 chevy and not having any luck searching on here so any links to any tri 5 swaps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What kind of info are you looking for. I did a 56 swap last year. Pretty straightforward.
Engine swap plates, frame mounts, and trans crossmember from Ecklers. Harness from PSI. Cut the trans mounts off the frame. Radiator relocated in front of rad support with a Northern radiator. Vintage Air unit and ac brackets from Kwik Perf. F body accessories with frame notched for alternator. F body manifolds fit perfect.

The owner of this one was going after stock like appearance. Coils are behind the air cleaner and stock throttle body is under there too so still EFI.

Heres a link to my photobucket, browse around on there.

Mainly wanted to look thru any build threads to see what problems others had run into. One question for sure is oil pan, does the lh8 pan work on these or does it hang to low like on the chevelle? What pan did you use?

LS1NOVA 02-09-2013 05:41 AM

Yes, LH8 pan works good, doesnt hang down.

Also, look over at www.trifive.com.

Also, the LH8 pan is from an H3 Hummer. That pan is well below the frame on my 55.

Hi, we did an LM7 5.3 in our 55 2dr post and if you go thru our build it will explain how we did the LS1 install. Not hard at all

Good luck
