Default Taurus elec fan

Friends and family of LS1 Tech, I've read post where people used electric fans from a Ford Taurus. What year Taurus was this and was it a six or four cyclender.

I don't use them as they draw too much current on startup I prefer the lt1 Evans if you can fit two fans.

Thanks in advance.

Default LT1 Fans

Aknovaman, not sure I understand lt1 evans fan! is that a company? Or should I just look up an LT1. I don't know the dimensions of the LT1 radiator fan.
But thanks I'll look into it.

Early 90's taurus or a mid 90's Lincoln Mark VIII would work.

Use caution....hear they draw a lot of amps so you may need to upgrade you alternator ?

F-Body (Camaro / Firebird) fans are good if you want dual fans.

1996 - 1997 Ford Thunderbird fans are two speed single fans with a built in shroud and fairly compact. These are the same or similar to the Mark VIII fans, but only need a 40 amp relay and fuse. I'm using mine on low speed only because I never needed the high speed.

i know guys on the s10 forum with ls swaps also use dodge intrepid/concord or 300m fans from 99-04. They fit the s10 radiator which is about the same dimensions as the lt1 radiator. they pull less amps and pull alot of cfms. they are a duel set up. i have one sitting in my s10 now. got it at a junkyard for $30.

The Taurus fan is from the 3.8 V6 models of the early 90s. I have one on my 300ZX. Its loud and melted a 30 amp (40 amp surge) relay on high. I run it constantly on low (fan switch broke) and it easily cools my cammed 5.3.

"Evans" appears to have been a typo. He meant "LT1 E-Fans"

tarus e fan 90-95 with a v6 and mercurys. low speed works great for daily duty on my s10 5.3 with 1" core radiator and stock t stat. the high speed is really strong like really strong very noisy.start up on the high speed can pull 70 amps or more be careful with it. these can be had for 20 bucks at junk yards.. if you dont mind the noise and figuring out some wierd heavy wiring and multiple relays. its a cool option check out the jeep cherokee forums for wiring info those guys have been using them for years.

Taurus fans come in several different shapes and sizes. Some are two speed and others are single speed. They even had some with dual fans. I have a two speed Taurus fan with only the low speed connected. Haven't ever needed the high speed. Have it on a 25 amp fuse and never had an issue. Lincoln puts a fan on their V8 cars that are suppose to be a little more efficient than the standard Taurus fan.

Make sure you grab the relays at the same time you grab the fan. They are free that way and you know they match the fan.

By the way, the more amps a fan draws the more air it typically moves.

Not sure if this helps but I've read on here that you can get 70 amp relays out of the Mark VIIIs to run the Taurus fans without issue.

70 amp relays that are required to operate relays is an excessive requirement.
