Default Coolant expansion tank question.

I have a ls1 sn95 and I plan to either mount the radiator almost horizontal, or even leave it vertical. But my problem is that the radiator sits below the highest coolant point on the engine. So my plan was to use a Volvo or Vw mini expansion tank. They both have a steam vent fittings on top, and a 5/8 heater hose line on the bottom. My dilemma is where should I run the bottom fitting?

Should I tie into the top hose, bottom hose, or even the heater hose bypass? On my 08 silverado it has two 5/8 fittings, one goes straight to radiator thee other goes to the heater hose. So what do you all suggest?

I used a Mercedes tank with a T into the return heater hose -from the heater core- to the front fitting - return - of the water pump.
