Default Tesa harness tape

Anyone using cloth tesa harness tape, purchased from efi connection?

I wrapped this tape around my harness every few inches or so to keep it laid out how I wanted it to sit on the motor. Came back to it a few days later and it's all unraveling. There a technique to using this?

did you wrap it too tight? I modified my harness using 3m electrical tape and found if wrapped to tight it will either bunch up or unwrap....

I have been rolling the tape onto the harness directly off the roll, making 2-3 passes around the wire. Then I snip it off and press the end of the cut tape down real good. Few days later its looking like this.

I'm having the same problem with the stuff I bought from PSI. Maybe there's a trick to getting the ends to stay down.

I was having the same issue except I was covering the wire with some black braided loom and then taping the ends with the cloth tape. I wonder maybe if you heat it up with a heat gun and get the glue sticky it will seal up better

Figured it out tonight. Waving a flame over/near it just like what I'd do for heat shrink does the trick. It gets just a little gooey and you can push it down with your fingers if needed for it to adhere at the end.

There is no glue with the non adhesive tape. It is just friction, but heating it up does make it sticky.

I think it would work okay after heating, but I'm using shrink tube on the ends of my braided loom and it looks really nice.

Regular harness tape is just for protection of the wires from chafing and it is essentially non-stick. You use something else to secure the loose end....they should almost call it a cover not tape. On old factory cars they tied the end. It is not supposed to be sticky in case you have to remove it for troubleshooting or replacement.

I have adhesive engine harness tape. You will find a mixture of both adhesive and non adhesive tape on newer harnesses. I use a mixture of both on my harnesses.

The non adhesive works better in areas where you want greater flexibility.

I heated up the ends a little with my heat gun, then pressed it down real good and its still holding.
