Ls1 Miata Overheating Confusion
Ls1 Miata Overheating Confusion I have a larger then stock aftermarket aluminum radiator with an 18psi cap. At around 180 degrees or so, the cap starts letting coolant leak out. I just replaced the water pump and I'm real confused here. I thought an 18 psi cap wouldn't let coolant out until a higher temp. I tried a few different caps so I know its not faulty. Any ideas?
You might have air trapped in the system. Suggest you bleed the system..
Did you fill the coolant from the top radiator hose (disconnected at the radiator) ?
Can try to loosen the steam vent hose or caps to see if any air bleeds out.
Try some of the Factory Service Manual procedures on filling and bleeding the system.
