Well, couple of questions and observations:

When you say stage 3 I'm assuming LS6 stage 3's? Or 317's stage 3?

For 14#'s of boost, couple of things; 52# injectors isn't enough. You need probably 80's; you'll need 1 giant or 2 decent sized fuel pumps; I hope you're either running E85, or have dished forged pistons and forged rods b/c a stock LS1 short block isn't going to live long at that boost level; stage 3 TSP LS6's have to large of intake valves to work in a 3.9 (stock) bore motor. They need a 4.0 bore or larger.

So, couple of things is it a forged motor? If not, you can run 317 heads to lower compression to have it live...

To put down serious power, since its turbo'd you really don't need ported heads, they'll help, but they're not necessary.

As for power, depending on turbo size and that boost, 650-850.

The exhaust is nice looking but expensive. Stock exhausts do pretty well.

Do you know if they'll even fit in the 928?
If you go turbo, you probably wouldn't be able to use the headers anyway. Many here use flipped truck manifolds for turbo setups.

Personally, unless you already have an LS1, or have a desire specifically to run an LS1, go get a junkyard 5.3 truck motor. They are proven to be strong in stock form, and have the perfect compression ratio for boost. Depending on the year, 9.1:1-9.5:1. This and you can pickup a 5.3 wiring and all for less than 1k.

And boosted can make nice power. Probably more than the Porsche transaxle could handle.

Turbos are tough on power trains, but if you want boost, junkyard 5.3 is the affordable way to do it.

This is a great template for a boosted stock motor that made serious power and lived for a long time, with many passes on it. foose04..

What trans are you planning on using? As stated before the trans/axle is going to depend on how much power your going to be able to put down.

Looking forward to seeing this project, I have had a 944t and a 928 in the past and one day would like to build a LS 9 or 928...

Transmission wise I think the convertion kit lets me use the stock 928 one and for the axle I need to think of some kind of upgrade still need to do some research on that good luck on ur 944 and 928 , I actually wany the 944 as my next build

Foose04 worked with and planned out much if what was done here w/ Martin@tick, who you will find is very knowledgable on all things LS. He's worth a PM and discuss what your plans are. Tick performance is who Mrtin works for and his team there builds some pretty cool stuff. Currently they are helping Martin put together his turbo build of a stock bottom 6.0 with a giant turbo setup for 275x drag racing.

Probably won't survive a mildly boosted 5.3, I'd say at least a T56 Magnum would be wiser.

Might want to look at the C5 vette T56 transaxle swap. There's a thread over a pro-touring.com with a 928, vette T56 swap.

I know this is a couple months old, but thought I'd throw my .02 in. Transaxle is sketchy once you start putting some power to it. Also the 928 transaxle is a 2.75 final. I'm gathering parts to do a swap myself. I'm using an L33 which is all aluminum with a 4l60e and replacing the transaxle with a R230 diff out of a 300zx turbo. 9" ring gear, pretty stout. I'll use the the stock suspension, hubs, etc, and make conversion axle shafts. I'll be working carefully to keep the weight distribution the same, which should be OK, even with moving the trans to the front because the 928 motors are FREAKING HEAVY. This gives me a way wider variety of trans options as well as rear end gear ratios. The R230 out of the 300zx is 3.69, which should work very nicely with the 4l60e. (I know the 4l60 isnt the optimum trans, but I got a screaming deal on a built one with converter. If it doesnt work I'll put something better in) This is my second 928 conversion, but the other one I did with a backhalf chassis and Ford 9"
