Getting factory SN95 gauges to work
I'm doing a 5.3 swap in a 96 Stang but using a Holley EFI system. I reard some threads were some folks got the gauges working but they were using a factory ECU. Is there a way I can get the speedo and tach working somehow? I will be using a th400, so I need to adapt in a device of some sort to get the speedo operational. Otherwise, I have to spend about $1k for aftermarket gauges.

You can get aftermarket gauges from speedhut for about 5-600 bucks for a compete set up. Thats the route I went but bought mine when they were on sale for like 400 ish. i "think"you can get a speedo reading from abs sensor on the wheel hub or from the vss off the transmission.

I have factory 99 truck gages in my 75 mercedes with a 99 4.8. Some of the gages run on "serial data", which means it is one wire carrying more than one type of data. The ECU provides this data to the cluster. Is it too late to go with the factory efi? It is pretty good stuff in my opinion.

Yeah I'm set on the Holley system as I will be running a turbo/meth etc etc and even though the factory system is very impressive I just have a certain comfort level with the Holley.
