280z ls t56 swap help Im currently planning a project for next summer where i want to drop a ls motor into a 280z and have noticed there are a considerable amount of kits you can buy to help drop in a ls1. how similar is a ls 5.3 truck motor to the ls1 because im curious as to if the engine mounts and stuff like that are gunna be all that different. I wanna use the 5.3 because it is simply much cheaper then a ls1 out of a camaro/trans am and puts out plenty of power for which my project requires.

The Ls engines mentioned are all interchangeable in terms of parts(with exception of the 4.8 having a different crank). All mounting points are the same on all. I suggest using a ls1, ls2, or ls3 oil pan. Are you going auto or t56 ?

t56, i plan on sticking to the 5.3 or the aluminum block l33 for budget purposes

yea i feel l33 is the way to go, a tiny amount less then ls1 power and for almost a quarter the price. Im not gunna spend 1000 extra dollars for 20 extra horsepower that can be made up for cheaper in the l33 in the future.
