Default Help! Newbie here!!

hello there everyone i been trying to get information on a swap for my 1992 caprice and need the help!!!
i want to install a lm4 5.3l v8 and a 6l80e tranny.
i want my car to be fuel efficient more than anything but still be a sleeper for when i need it.
it is a family car and want more info on what i should do. i know weight reduction and suspension work will be needed but i am like i said in the headline. a newbie to this. what are some recomendations and why. thank you much appreciated!!!

Not really sure what your question is but if you are shooting for a modern V8 daily, the only thing you need to do is drop in the engine and trans. Check your rear gears and the final gear of the trans to make sure they'll play well together. You could probably save money by using a 4L60E but the 6L might have a taller final drive and get better MPG.

Take the comp to a tuner when you are done and have them tune it more toward MPG than perf. when the swap is complete.

thank you finally noticed my cry for help i tried 3 different posts!!
ok so the 6l i will be getting cheap at the junk yard so i have no problem with that.
do you by any chance have any upgrade and mod suggestions for this i will be doing this to a 92 caprice

I think you need to step back and start looking at things 1 at a time. Seems like your putting the cart before the horse, so to speak.

Are you planning to cut up the trans tunnel? The 6L might require it.
Anything special needed to mate a 6L to a 5.3?
What are your power goals?
Can a GenIII (pretty sure the LM4 is gen 3) harness control the 6L trans?

Just because it has 6 gears doesn't mean that the 6L will net better MPG than a 4L. Chances are that both have a similar OD, check specs to see how they compare. Having more gears to shift through doesn't automatically equal better MPG.

To boost power there are many options on both sides of "inhalation" fence. So pick what side, forced or natural, and move on from there.

thank you very much for that i think i was overwelming myself with everything so i will take some time and think about my goals. as far as the tranny goes i was looking at a 4l case that has 6 gears made by... i cant remember what company but its featured in chevy high performance i simply want a 6 speed so i can keep lower rpms but still be able to push it that extra bit.

as far as hp goes im trying simply for 300-400 not too exagerating or anything like that just simple yet fun.

5.3 has almost 300 from the factory. Might be able to beat that number just by getting a good tune. Good exhaust and cam/heads will get you very close to 400HP. Consider bigger engines like LS2 that came from the factory with 400HP if you want to keep things simple.
