ideas I'm asking for ideas on a new project. I would like to do nice 427 motor with twin screw supercharger with the always fun 6 speed trans. The problem is what to put it in. I am looking for something that is going to have 20 percent of its life on a strip the other 80 will be cruising car shows and fun on the weekend.

Since you don't have a specific car in mind, why not just browse Craigslist for cars in your area? One is sure to jump out at you when you see it.
If you're looking for something different, I can't say I have seen any 50 Mercs or other bubbly cars like that. I think it would be really cool to do a Lamborghini kit car that could keep up with the real thing.
My favorite is the big square bricks like the Impalas and Chevelles. Those are pretty common cars though, making them somewhat affordable, but something that others have already done.

Another variable is your skill level and / or your budget. I can fabricate anything I need so I can take some oddball and make the parts I need to make it work. I'm also a junkyard scavenger and I'm not afraid to mix parts from several different makes and years for the desired effect.
Personally I've never been in your situation. I always know what I want to build next and why.
Seems you have an idea of what type of events you want to be at.. how about checking out the events to see what is typical there and different that might hit you as a cool project. But as note above.. skill and budget might help you decide on what to pickup.
Every Car person, region and type of Car Events will have a different idea of what is cool or not.. So don't expect us to give you a idea and you then have to live with the car people you hang out with if they don't think it is a cool car or fits in with them..
