cooling system question
cooling system question i am running an aluminum radiator and was wondering if it makes a differnece what pound the cap is?i currently have a 18lb cap on it and my overflow goes to a sealed can also.not sure if the cap is to high or if the overflow needs to have a "vent" hole in it also? reason i ask is when i go for a cruise it will push some coolant out of the "relief" valve in the center of the cap. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
More psi = higher boiling point and increased stress on coolant system.
Your overflow should be vented to atmosphere so the air inside the tank has somewhere to go when the radiator vents coolant. If you continue to lose coolant through the cap, then I'd start with a new cap.

ok i dont have the overflow vented or atleast a "hole" in it i will do that and see if it helps.radiator shop just put a new cap on it for me when i had a fitting welded on so idk maybe i need a lot less pound cap? or does that not make a difference?
