well i was initially going to narrow the rear end, but then it interferes with the suspension i want to run and wheel size...and cost of everything, not to mention i would like to keep the wheel track as wide as possible for better handling on the track. Finished the other quarter today, finished welding it on, cut it, flared it and then hammered it to match the drivers side. Then to get a feel for how well i had it formed i decided to skim coat it with fiberglass filler. This will fill in the welds, smooth out some imperfections and give me a solid look at the final shape. I have to say it looks pretty damn good! The aftermarket quarter is missing some details in the rear where the valance bolts on, but i'll just have to make that work. After grinding all the welds down around the quarter i put some fiberglass filler on that as well. Most of this will be sanded off but it will seal up my work and get it roughed in for now. Next step will be POR15 coating the inside of the quarters/flares and then building the rest of the outer wheel well to meet the quarter with maximum clearance and then rolling the lip of the quarter over the edge of that flush. Then more POR15, then seam sealer...then more primer...uh.

ground the fiberglass down and added one more thin layer just to make sure things are straight before blocking and waiting for filler. Looks pretty cool.

installed the engine, trans and front suspension, strapped the car to the rear end with some block spacers and dropped the front end on loosely for transport. Moving in 29 days and counting....

Are those off a modern Mustang? they look larger than the original 14" that would have been common to the era.

If you're asking about the wheels, they look like those from the 2003/4 Mach1.

they make repop's of these wheels and ive thought about buying some. The stockers are 17x8 but i believe you can get them in 9 and 10.5 widths. Could happen i like them more than i thought.

haha nice car! love the turbo on there- i thought about doing that to mine but for what i want to do it would be too much power. I do like the mach one wheels but it'll get something else when its all done, not sure if im keeping the SC wheels i bought i may have to get something with more offset to tuck them back into the mini tubs better.

well its been awhile since ive posted. Im still alive. We moved about three months ago and ive been working on the house and the 30x60 pole barn that the car now resides in. Ended up pulling the barn down to the studs and rebuilding most the woodwork, siding and put in a 9x10' garage door and walk in doors at each end. Still picking away at the inside, cleaning up and wiring for lights etc. Soon the car will be back in progress but till then here are some update shots.... much improved over the old 2 car garage with a 6' ceiling!

Glad to see you haven't given up on the car, please keep posting any and all progress, I'm real close to the same progress on my LQ9 / 66 mustang, so I'm paying very close attention.

well finally started tinkering with the car some again. Bought a set of sweet headers i think will fit the car, should be here this week. Also, pulling the 8.8 out- sold it to my cousin with the 67 stang, and im purchasing a 9" rear end with the fox body style mounts - but shorter width like the stock rear. This should be much stronger, bolt into my AJE rear suspension and fit my wheels perfectly without going with some crazy offset. My cousin came over tonite and we disassembled most of the car, pulled the front and rear suspension out to get it ready for the rotisserie again, but left the motor in for now so i can check the new headers. Time to get some welding done so i can get to smoothing and bodywork stuff....and convince the wife to let me spend lots more money.
