Default Alternator wiring

Hey I have a 92 chevy 1500 pickup I'm putting in a carbed LQ4 in. I was wondering if I could buy a one wire pigtail for the lq4 alternator and splice into the old wire I had with the TBI 350 that was connected to the alternator on it? It ran to the gauges as a resistor. Does anyone know if this would be ok to run? Thanks

You may be able to just connect your old wire from the TBI alternator to the L terminal of the new alt and it will work ok. However, all of the LSx truck alts that I have seen diagrams for use the L terminal and the F/I terminal. If it does not charge with just the L terminal hooked up try connecting the F terminal to a switched 12v + ignition source and that should fix it.

Use your 1992 alternator. Thats what I did. Plug is 12 volts and the big wire goes to the battery. Easy as pie.

99 00 Silverado GMT 800 PCM only uses 1 wire on terminal L.
01 02 Silverado GMT 800 PCM use 2 wires terminal L and F.

Found these gif's of the wiring elsewhere on the site.

If you have your own tuning software you can look under the systems tab for the OS you are using and change these settings as well.

HTH!
