5.3 into an SN95....auto or manual?
5.3 into an SN95....auto or manual? I am going to pick up an SN95 Mustang to dick around with on the side since my Z06 is finally to the point where it's going to cost serious money to make more power out of.
I am looking into doing a 5.3 swap into a SN95 (probably 94-98) mustang and I can't decide whether to go auto or manual.
I am planning to turbo the car and convert it to E85. I do all my own work and tuning and do plan on having something I can take to the drag strip.
A friend of mine who did an LS1 into an E36 BMW said that the T56 tranny makes it expensive and to look into a TH400, but I am not sure how that will play with HPtuners.
Can anyone who has done the swap before give me any advice?

Your friend is right. A T56 will probably add $2000-$2500 to your build vs an auto, and even more once you start making a lot of power with the turbo and need to upgrade the clutch, synchros, etc.
I am putting a T56 in my fox, it requires much more than an automatic.
And autos are faster on the drag strip anyway.

I'm doing pretty much the same swap and going with a TH400. Mine will be mostly strip with a little street action. What turbo do you plan on using? Are you going with the jy plan or are you building something more stout?
