input on idle up and a/c cutout Im swapping a 05 5.3 in a 55 chevy and am going to buy hptuners. Im wondering what I can do to bring the idle up when I turn the a/c on and possible cut a/c off at a certain throttle % since I dont have factory a/c controller for ecm to recieve the serial data to turn the compressor on?
The IAC will up the idle when it sees a load on the engine, and the factory set up only cuts out the compressor at WOT, so I wouldn't worry about it. People make a big deal about this, but I have cars that have the A/C completely separate from the PCM and they work fine. If you're going to be drag racing someone and going full throttle, just turn it off.
I've heard of people just hooking up the A/C request to 12v when the A/C is on and it will bump up the idle and turn on the fans, but never seen it first hand. Doesn't help you anyway since you have an '05 without the request wire. I assume you're using an aftermarket system like Vintage Air or something? Just wire your fans through a relay controlled by a trinary switch and you're done.
