Fuel line connection

Fuel line connection I am using my original steel fuel line in my Chevelle ls conversion and need to run a line from it up to the fuel rail. My question is, would a compression fitting work to connect the steel line to a braided line going to the rail? Also the braided line would have aluminum fittings so not sure if that would be a problem. Thanks for any replys.

I used aluminum Russel and Summit compression to AN fittings on all my hardlines. I'm running carb pressures so definitely a good way to go. A lot of these fittings are only rated to 50-55 psi. Russel may make compression fittings that are rated to EFI pressures. Earls also makes a line of aluminum hardline to AN fittings that work at higher pressures (250 psi)

If you have 3/8" stock steel lines use a Swagelok SS-600-6-6AN fitting. That will crimp onto your steel tube and convert to AN. On the fuel rail side I used a Swagelok 3/8" 90 degree compression fitting(SS-600-9) and a 6AN tube adapter(SS-6-TA-1-6AN). Then go to your local parker store and get the correct length that you need of teflon lined stainless braided fuel lines with the female AN fittings on both ends. I think that the parker stuff is 919B-6 hose.

Thanks again for all the input. My fuel line is a 3/8 and no return, my engine doesn't use one. Haven't flared a line in probably 45 yrs so not sure that I would be able to make a good double flare lying under the car.
Another option that I have been using is to Braze/Weld on a AN Bung on to the 3/8" steel line.. I braze them on.. if the line is SS, they have to be silver soldered on.
I now Braze the Bung on to my Fuel rail and anything else that is a hard line (Fuel sender) and then use AN Hose and fittings.

My Chevelle had a 5/16" feed line, 1/4" return...so I converted the 5/16" to my return line, and used the 1/4" for my vapor line. I ran a new 3/8" hard line for my feed.
I used the Swagelok SS-600-6-6AN fittings for all my 3/8" hardline to -6AN fittings...these are the best stainless steel, no compromise fittings you can use...
I used these...they are 5/16" hard line to -6AN to connect to my return line.

These were my Trans hard lines. These are SS hard lines and AN Bungs, I used a short SS / Teflon hose and AN fittings to connect to the Trans and the Cooler.
This is my Fuel Rail.. I cut the tube off and attached the bung directly leading into the Pulse Module.
Also used Braided hose and AN Fitting to connect the hard line to the fuel rail, FPR and the sender feed and return. Its a lot cheaper and more secure.
