Default Help with T56 reverse lockout

I am changing out my TKO500 for a T56 from a 2002 WS6 TA. I am almost done but need to overcome the reverse lockout. I plan to use a GPS speedo so have no wiring on the trans at all. The engine came from a 2003 Vette w/auto so I have no harness to the trans. I want to manually/electrically actuate the solenoid so need 3 questions answered:

1. What signal is fed to the solenoid to actuate it? I am guessing 12vdc and a ground? It is after all just an all or nothing solenoid...right????

2. Where can I get a plug for the solenoid? GM part #??? Is this it?
Amazon.com: ACDelco PT249 Female Connector with Lead: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco PT249 Female Connector with Lead: Automotive

3. Is there anything else that will trip me up and not allow the T56 to work without all the electrical gizmos?? I had nothing on my TKO but a mechanical speedo cable.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

The ride:

You can leave the lock out un powered if you want my last two conversions I did this and you just push past it and its not tough at all.

Yes, 12 volts will do the trick

I use a Line Lock switch to activate my Reverse. Then just ground the other terminal. You should be able to get one from the local parts store (can look in the catalog and order). Or you can order one off of ebay or one of the other online electrical parts stores / vendors. (Casper Electronic, EFI Connection, Current Performance, etc..)

Some have used the Brake or Clutch switch to activate the solenoid.

I did this, And after about 2 months I had pulled my hair out as its frustrating. I ordered this controller, Have had it in for about 3-4 months and I am so happy that my lockout works correctly.

Thanks guys for the help. A switch is a pretty easy solution. I also found a easier spring I may try.

Just a thought, I used the positive side of my brake switch to power a push on/off illuminated switch. So, if the reverse circuit is active, the switch will light with the brake pedal pushed and I could go in reverse. Once I was done with reverse, I deactivated the switch. No light, no reverse.

They also sell a much softer spring that replaces the factory one inside the reverse solenoid. No wiring necessary whatsoever. Still retains the detent feature, just much easier to operate. Pushing past the stock spring in the solenoid is a PITA.
