Evap delete
I am doing an LS1 swap into 1968 ElCamino.
We sent the ECM out to have the VATS, Evap and cats turned off.
What is the best way to clean up the engine bay? Trying to get rid of all the vacuum hoses from the evap system. Just block them off???
What about the vents in the valve covers??? plugged them? put filters on?
The driver side valve cover has the 1.5" hole in the back for evap venting. plug it?
Thanks
I don't think that valve cover port is EVAP, I believe it's PCV, which some use and some don't... It evacuates crankcase pressure gases back into the intake of the motor... which some use a catch can or just a breather vented to atmosphere. I would not plug this hole, as it will probably just blow off.
Any more specifics which hoses and lines you're wanting to clean up? There are different strategies for each port/passage, Also depending on what your vehicle purpose will be: racing, highway cruising, show cruises? Forced induction? N/A?
As far as the PCV, for anything like a Mild build or less, I would recommend using the PCV if possible. As there are some benefits of keeping Back pressure down and keeping your Crank Seal from blowing out.
If you can, switch over to the LS6 PCV System with the Lifter Valley cover. And a Catch Can to help.

That is the PCV at the rear of the driver side valve cover.
The only problem with trying to do something there is that the windshield wiper motor is right there. Very limited amount of room to put anything in there.
I am using a 1998 LS1 6 speed from out of a Trans Am.
Thanks I really appreciate your help breez
