Default Value of LS2 and 4L70e from Tailblazer

I am looking an LS2 and a 4L70e out of an 06 Trailblazer with realtively low miles, 65K I believe. I want to put this in my 72 chevelle. Yes it does have the truck intake, but at this point it would fit and looks are not a huge concern. What would be a fair price? I am thinking around $3000.

I think you can do better. Shop around and do some research. Make sure the vehicle you get your engine/trans from is not a DOD (displacement on demand). I think they have a "J" in the VIN. Some wrecking yards know what you need and will work with you to get the ECU, wiring, TAC and throttle pedal all for one price. No matter what, try to get the donor VIN and milage.

The TBSS didn't have an option for DoD, I'm pretty sure. I don't think $3000 would be a bad price. If that includes everything, wiring harness, ecu, TAC, pedal, I think it would be a pretty sweet deal.

Pretty sure it is just the motor and trans, but from what I have read and been told most of the time you have to get a custom harness anyway. If I could get it around $2700 I may pull the trigger.

You can redo the harness yourself, just be patient. I had never done anything like it before and I did mine. It is probably what I am the most proud of on my swap. It's all personal preference. If you don't feel confident, buy a premade harness. Try to get the pedal and TAC, they get picky from year to year and model to model.

Make sure to get the pedal and the tcu, I am pretty sure this does not use a TAC. You will want to make sure the matching PCM is included, as well as all of the engine/trans harness.

I think 2500 to 2700 is a deal if it comes with everything.

The TBSS intake actually isn't a bad piece aside from looks.

Not sure where you guys are coming up with these numbers. Trailblazer SS engine/transmission dropouts go for $4500-$7000 on ebay consistently.

you couldnt touch a ls2 take out for less than 4000 in my area and thats engine only. 3k for entire drivetrain would be a steal.

I was thinking the same as superdave84... sugguest you research on ebay, craigslist, car-parts.com to better get an idea of what your paying.

IMO. If you can get a low mileage LS2, trans plus the other parts for under $3k... buy it.... or let me know where I can pick it up !

I paid 4700.00 for mine 3 years ago Complete w/ all wiring Pcm & Tac 50k miles. I forgot to grab the peddle though. The engine was at a local JY and they new full well what they had. They wanted 5200.00 so I felt good about the deal.Road it around in the back of my pickup truck for days showing it off to my buddies. Now getting it on the road is another story.

Ended up going for $3700 but none of the wiring or PCM was included. Still seemed to be a decent deal, just seemed to high for what was included and from what I read the 4L70e was a hit or miss tranny. The search continues.

Take a look at www.car-part.com for engines and transmissions. Good source and prices all over the place.

as these get older and wrecked more they are showing up in some of the pick and pulls if your lucky. In my area the motors have come down quite a bit, LKQ in Clearwater is very aggressive in buying wrecks. We pulled a 6.0 complete w/trans and it was under 1000, pulled a 5.3 (motor) for under 400 complete. Just like in the Ford world, explorer intakes used to bring 300 and now your lucky if you can sell one for 100.

I bought my LQ4 with the basics of the Magnacharger a few years back for $1100.00 delivered from LKQ. At that point they were having a hard time selling it through their regular channels since it was not stock and was not really an OE replacement. The point is that there are deals to be had, just be patient. Make sure to note that there are differences to pay attention to. Most notably 24 vs. 58 tooth reluctor. That changes everything in compatibility of PCM.

I recently went to LKQ in Clearwater for the first time to snip some electrical connectors. I think it's great for easy to get to, small items. But I couldn't picture myself rolling around in the dirt all day to pull and engine and trans! Or bringing enough tools to do so, without having a very frustrating day.
