Wire gauge size for stand alone harness?

Wire gauge size for stand alone harness? Looking at ls1 swap i see how everything is wired but I want to make sure I have the correct wire sizes. And are there any other fuses inbetween the power sources (ie. battery or key on source)?
Engine control is 100% 18ga for most aftermarket harnesses. Delphi used 18-20ga for different applications
Add up the circuits you plan to fuse for the larger power cables. Most engine control fuseblocks are sufficient with a single 12ga cable. Relays require their own power cables, generally a 12ga each, except AC which has a relatively low draw
I use this for most fuseblocks. The 3 battery cables are 12ga
