Trans help ASAP I have a 4.8 out of a 2004 silverad. Came across a 4l60e out of a camero but the camero was a 6 cyclinder motor. Can I use this trans? Are all 4l60e trans the same? Please help. Thanks
That depends... Was the V6 a 3800 or a 3400? If it was a 3400, the bellhousing and converter will work (but two bolts won't align with the pan). If it was a 3800, the bellhousing is the "frontwheel drive" style bellhousing which is more compact.
As far as internals, the input shaft is different, but I don't believe they are "weaker." I've never seen actual proof the V6 transmissions are weaker than the V8 variant. I've been beating the living crap out of a V6 transmission in my Thunderbird for the last five years behind a 5.3 as my daily driver / donut / burnout machine. It's even been on a few road trips. I can't speak for the 3800 V6 transmission as it may differ, but the 3400 (Chevy V6) version works fine.
